aiken First Tee

A unique partnership between First Tee – Aiken and USC Aiken, the Chalk Mine 9 opened in 2022 as a walking-only nine-hole par-three course and practice facility built on 40 acres of reclaimed mining land.

The par 27 layout plays at 815 yards, featuring firm greens, forced carries, and dual flag locations that reward precision and creativity. Designed by Jim McNair, Jr., the course blends rustic character with strategic shot-making through the terrain of a former chalk and sand mine.

More than just a golf course, the facility serves as a “Learning Links” for the USC Aiken men’s golf program and First Tee’s youth development mission—using the game to instill life skills, core values, and healthy habits in young people across Aiken County. Public play is available, with all proceeds supporting both programs.
